India Actively Negotiating Trade Pacts With US, EU and Multiple Nations

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced on Friday that India is currently engaged in free trade agreement negotiations with several major economies, including the United States, European Union, New Zealand, Oman, Peru, and Chile.

  • Existing FTAs already implemented with UAE, Australia, EFTA bloc
  • 42,000 compliances removed and 1,500 laws abolished to boost business ease

Speaking at the CII Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam, Minister Goyal emphasized that “We are currently negotiating with the EU, US, Oman, New Zealand, Chile and Peru and many more wanting us to start negotiations.”

Infrastructure Collaboration

The India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) has expressed willingness to partner with the Andhra Pradesh government to develop a world-class convention center – Andhra Mandapam – similar to Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu committed to providing land for this project.

Global Cooperation Framework

Goyal outlined crucial steps for expanding international partnerships:

  • Promoting two-way investments through reduced trade barriers
  • Creating transparent environments for free flow of goods, services, and capital
  • Technology cooperation between nations
  • Establishing predictable policy frameworks for long-term partnerships

The minister stressed that lowering global trade barriers remains essential for economic growth, particularly amid rising protectionism worldwide.
