Google’s $15B AI Hub to Make Andhra Pradesh Global Data Centre Leader

Key Takeaways

  • Google plans $15+ billion investment in Andhra Pradesh AI data centre
  • Project to become Google’s largest AI hub outside the United States
  • Partnership includes AdaniConneX and Bharti Airtel
  • CM Naidu targets 15% economic growth and $1 trillion investments

Andhra Pradesh is set to become a global data centre hub with Google’s massive $15+ billion investment in what will be the company’s largest AI facility outside the United States. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu confirmed the transformative project during the CII Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam.

Google’s Landmark India Investment

In a recent interview, CM Naidu revealed Google’s plans to establish one of India’s largest AI data centres in Andhra Pradesh. “It is a win-win situation to start with $15 billion within five years,” Naidu stated, describing the project as a game-changer for the state’s economy.

The Visakhapatnam data centre, announced last month, represents Google’s biggest investment in India to date. The tech giant is partnering with Gautam Adani’s AdaniConneX and telecom major Bharti Airtel in this ambitious venture.

Multiple Corporate Giants Join Data Centre Race

Google isn’t alone in recognizing Andhra Pradesh’s potential. Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries has committed to developing a 1 GW AI data centre in the state, signaling massive corporate confidence in the region’s infrastructure and growth prospects.

This corporate interest has prompted CM Naidu to set ambitious targets: 15% economic growth rate and attracting $1 trillion in investments over the next decade. The state government aims to develop 6GW of data centre capacity by 2029.

Cost-Effective Data Infrastructure

“This data flow is cost-effective compared to consumption of power,” Naidu emphasized during his interview. He expressed excitement about Andhra Pradesh’s emerging status, noting that “now everybody is coming to Andhra Pradesh” and predicting the state “is going to become a global hub for data centres.”

Global Significance of Andhra Pradesh Project

Google Cloud CEO previously highlighted the project’s international importance, calling it “the largest AI hub that we are going to be investing in anywhere in the world, outside of the United States.”

The Visakhapatnam facility will join Google’s global network of AI hubs across 12 countries. Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai confirmed the facility “will bring our industry-leading technology to enterprises and users in India, accelerating AI innovation and driving growth across the country.”

Partnership Summit Success

The CII Partnership Summit 2025 concluded successfully, attracting hundreds of international delegates and generating investment offers worth Rs 13.25 lakh crore. Naidu described the hybrid event as combining investment attraction with knowledge sharing and global industry discussions.

The Chief Minister outlined his comprehensive development vision: “Rayalaseema will be developed as the horticulture and industrial hub and coastal AP as the aqua hub and Visakhapatnam the AI hub with the setting up of a data centre.”
