Amazon Plans Major Workforce Reduction
Amazon is reportedly preparing to initiate its largest corporate layoff in company history, with plans to cut approximately 30,000 jobs starting October 28. The e-commerce giant’s move comes as it addresses overhiring that occurred during peak COVID-19 pandemic demand periods.
Key Details of the Layoffs
According to Reuters reporting confirmed by three sources familiar with the matter, the job cuts will primarily affect corporate positions. While the 30,000 figure represents a small percentage of Amazon’s total 1.55 million global workforce, it constitutes nearly 10% of the company’s roughly 350,000 corporate employees.
This workforce reduction would mark Amazon’s most significant job cut since late 2022, signaling continued restructuring efforts within the technology sector.
