8th Pay Commission website: What’s inside and how employees can share views

The Government of India has launched the official website of the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC), marking the formal beginning of its work. The move has raised expectations among lakhs of central government employees and pensioners who are hoping for salary revisions, allowance changes and pension improvements.

The website launch signals that the consultation process has now started. The commission had already been given office space in Delhi earlier, and with the online platform now active, discussions on pay reforms have moved into the next phase.

WEBSITE REVEALS COMMISSION MEMBERS AND STRUCTURE

The website provides details about the composition of the 8th Pay Commission. It is chaired by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai. Prof. Pulak Ghosh has been appointed as a part-time member, while Pankaj Jain serves as the Member-Secretary.

The platform also outlines the commission’s Terms of Reference (ToR), which define its role and responsibilities. These terms were finalised after consultations with central ministries, state governments and staff representatives under the Joint Consultative Machinery.

This gives employees and stakeholders a clearer understanding of what areas the commission will review, including salaries, allowances, pensions and overall pay structure.

ACCESS TO PAST PAY COMMISSION REPORTS AND UPDATES

One of the key features of the website is the Pay Commission Repository, which allows users to download reports of the 6th and 7th Pay Commissions.

This gives employees, pensioners and researchers access to past recommendations and helps them track how pay structures have evolved over time.

STAFF HIRING BEGINS

The website also includes vacancy circulars for various posts related to the functioning of the 8th Pay Commission.

This indicates that the administrative and operational setup of the commission is still being strengthened.

FEEDBACK INVITED FROM EMPLOYEES AND STAKEHOLDERS

The commission is actively seeking suggestions from ministries, departments, central government employees, pensioners and other stakeholders. The aim is to gather a wide range of views before making its recommendations.

To make the process more transparent and accessible, the commission has partnered with the MyGov portal. All feedback must be submitted online through the official website or MyGov. Offline submissions, including letters or emails, will not be accepted.

Officials have assured that all responses will remain confidential so that employees and pensioners can share their views freely.

MEMORANDUM AND REPRESENTATION SUBMISSIONS TO BEGIN

The commission will invite representations, memorandums and suggestions from a wide range of stakeholders. This includes central government employees, defence personnel, All India Services officers, Union Territory staff, audit and accounts officials, regulatory body employees, court staff, pensioners and employee associations.

Submissions will need to follow a structured format, and the link for this process is expected to be made available on the website soon.

QUESTIONNAIRE OPEN TILL MARCH 16, 2026

The 8th Central Pay Commission is also collecting feedback through a structured questionnaire hosted on the MyGov portal. It includes 18 questions aimed at understanding concerns and expectations related to salaries, allowances and pensions.

Responses have been invited from ministries, departments, Union Territories, judicial officers, regulatory bodies, employee unions, pensioners, researchers, academicians and other interested individuals.

The last date to submit responses is March 16, 2026.

Meanwhile, the launch of the website marks an important step in the pay revision process. It confirms that the process of reviewing salaries and pensions has begun, and the final recommendations could have a significant impact on the income and retirement benefits of central government employees across the country.
