Indian-American venture capitalist Asha Jadeja Motwani has described spending nearly two hours with US President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida, just hours before Washington and Israel launched strikes on Iran — a night she said would “change the history of our planet forever.”
In a detailed X post recounting her experience at Mar-a-Lago, Motwani said she was part of a small group of around 20 of Trump’s friends who were seated around a dinner table at the Florida resort as tensions with Iran escalated.
“Feeling humbled that we got two hours with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago last night. On a night that will change the history of our planet forever, the President chose to cease all negotiations with Iran and commence the war — with brave Israelis leading the whole operation,” she wrote.
Motwani said that during her three-day stay at Mar-a-Lago, she witnessed senior members of Trump’s team moving frequently between what she described as a “war room” and the President’s residential quarters.
“In the three days that I have been at Mar-a-Lago, (I) am seeing Steve Witkoff, (Marco) Rubio, (Peter) Hegseth, Jared Kushner, Susie (Wiles) and the entire team back and forth between the ‘war room’ and the President’s residential area,” she wrote. “As always Trump works around the clock. Seven days a week.”
She said one of the highlights of her visit was hearing “first hand few high level updates from Middle East” from Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, describing the atmosphere as intense but confident.
According to her, phones were not allowed at the dinner. “At the dinner, we were about 20 friends of the President sitting around a table discussing the midterm elections,” she said, adding that “the war with Iran was of course at the top of everyone’s mind.”
While Motwani did not disclose operational details, her account offers a rare glimpse into the mood inside Trump’s inner circle in the hours before military action began. The White House has not officially commented on the specifics of the Mar-a-Lago meeting.
Her remarks come as the Iran conflict has entered its fourth day, following US and Israeli strikes on Iran since February 28 retaliatory missile and drone attacks on Israeli and American bases by Tehran across the Middle East.
Tehran’s retaliatory attacks follows Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s killing in US-Israeli strikes in Tehran. The escalating hostilities have triggered diplomatic fallout and heightened security alerts across the region, prompting countries to shut airspace and curb flight operations.
