Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s chemistry was so organic, ‘it was all natural,’ says wedding outfit designer Anamika Khanna

It was a wedding that felt intimate, deeply personal and culturally layered. When Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna tied the knot on Thursday at ITC Mementos Udaipur, their ensembles told a story of heritage as much as heart.

Designed by Anamika Khanna, the wedding looks blended architectural memory, regional identity and the couple’s effortless bond.

Rashmika’s bridal drape featured temple-house motifs embroidered across the fabric, inspired by Hyderabad’s architectural heritage. The craftsmanship lent the ensemble both nostalgia and grandeur. Vijay complemented her in an ivory dhoti silhouette paired with a vermillion angavastram, intricately detailed with forest and temple-inspired embroidery — understated yet steeped in symbolism.

For Khanna, however, the emotion needed no dramatic interpretation. “I don’t think I needed to incorporate their love story in the looks, it just came through so naturally. The first time I met Vijay and Rashmika in person I knew this was not staged or planned, it was all natural,” she told Hindustan Times.

“All we had to do was marry their vision with our research”

The designer reveals that the couple themselves set the tone for the celebration. “The brief initially came from them. All we had to do was marry their vision with our research and the history we could incorporate into their outfits. They were open to trying new things, which is how everything was decided from colour to elements. What ultimately came through was a vision created with love. ”

Rashmika’s accessories leaned royal — layered gold necklaces, baajubandhs, a mathapatti and statement jhumkas completed her look. She chose natural waves adorned with fresh mogras, keeping her makeup dewy and minimal with a soft nude lip.

Vijay matched the grandeur with layered gold haars, cuffs, a baajuband, kamarbandh and even an anklet — embracing tradition with quiet confidence.

A celebration of Telugu roots and Kodava lineage

The couple first met on the sets of Geetha Govindam, and years later, sealed their bond in a ceremony that honoured both their worlds. The traditional Telugu wedding took place at 10:10 AM, followed by an evening ceremony celebrating Rashmika’s Kodava lineage.

The rituals beautifully blended Telugu and Kodava customs, making the day as culturally rich as it was emotional.

Soon after exchanging vows, Rashmika shared her first post as a married woman, introducing Vijay as her husband. Vijay, in turn, posted heartfelt pictures recalling how he had made his best friend his wife.

As congratulatory messages poured in from celebrities and fans alike, it became clear that this wasn’t just a star wedding — it was a union that felt deeply, unmistakably real.
