Harvard Scientist Suggests Interstellar Comet Could Be Alien Craft

Key Takeaways

  • Harvard’s Avi Loeb suggests interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS might be artificial.
  • The object shows unexplained acceleration and a strange blue color.
  • Its closest approach to Earth is on December 19, offering a key observation window.

Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb has proposed a startling theory: the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS might not be a natural object but could have an artificial origin. This Manhattan-sized body is exhibiting anomalies that defy conventional explanation.

Unexplained Phenomena

NASA data confirms the comet is accelerating in a way inconsistent with normal cometary behavior. It has also displayed a sudden blue hue, appearing “bluer than the Sun.” Loeb suggests these traits could indicate the presence of an internal “engine” or advanced propulsion.

In a Medium post, Loeb noted the object’s unexpected brightening could be a sign of artificial light or heat emission.

Critical Observation Window

The comet will make its closest pass to Earth on December 19. This provides a crucial opportunity for scientists to determine its true nature. NASA and the European Space Agency plan to observe the phenomenon closely.

Loeb urges the scientific community to keep an open mind and not dismiss the possibility of extraterrestrial technology.
