Kentucky Farmer Rejects $10M Offer Over Secret NDA Terms

Kentucky Farmer Rejects $10 Million Offer Over Secretive NDA Terms

A Kentucky farmer turned down a $10 million offer for his family farm after mysterious buyers demanded he sign a restrictive non-disclosure agreement that would have prevented him from knowing which company wanted his land.

The Secretive Land Offer

In March, Dr. Timothy Grosser and his son Andy met with three unidentified men who offered $10 million for their 250-acre Mason County farm. The amount represented 35 times what Grosser paid for the property in 1988 and far exceeded recent land sales in the area.

The catch? The buyers refused to disclose which Fortune 100 company they represented, what type of industrial development was planned, or even their own names.

The NDA Controversy

Instead of providing details, the representatives presented a non-disclosure agreement that would have:

  • Prevented Grosser from discussing project details with third parties
  • Provided only limited information about the project’s purpose, timeline and size
  • Withheld the company name until after public announcement

“We refused to sign it,” Grosser stated firmly. “I’m not selling my farm for any amount of money.”

The incident highlights how major corporations are using NDAs to conceal land acquisitions for industrial projects, including potential AI data center developments, from local communities.
