Adani Ports fully geared to handle energy cargo amid global disruptions: Karan Adani

Adani Ports is fully prepared to handle critical energy cargo such as crude oil and LPG due to the global supply chain disruptions triggered by the ongoing Gulf Conflict, said Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd.

Speaking at the India Today Conclave 2026, Adani said the company has strengthened its port infrastructure to ensure India’s energy supplies remain stable even during periods of geopolitical uncertainty.

“From our perspective, given the current situation, we are fully geared up as a port to handle any cargo that comes into India. Whether it is energy, LPG or crude, we are ready to prioritise what is important for the country,” he said.

Adani noted that global supply chains have faced repeated disruptions in recent years, beginning with the Covid-19 pandemic, followed by the Suez Canal blockage and later the Russia–Ukraine war.

These events, he said, have forced countries to rethink their dependence on globalised supply chains.

“If you look at the last four or five years, there has always been some disruption affecting the supply chain,” he said.

According to Adani, many countries, including India, have gradually moved toward more regionalised supply chains since 2020 to improve resilience and reduce vulnerabilities.

He emphasised that developing strong domestic infrastructure, including ports and logistics networks, has become critical for ensuring reliable trade and energy flows.

“Having your own infrastructure becomes extremely critical for a country to make sure the supply chain is stable and reliable,” he said.

Adani added that strengthening supply chain resilience will remain a key priority for India as global disruptions continue to occur periodically.

“These disruptions may happen once every few years, but when they do, they have a significant impact. It becomes extremely important for us as a country to make our supply chain more resilient,” he said.

He added that Adani Ports aims to play a key role in supporting India’s energy security and trade flows during such disruptions.
