Palantir CEO Alex Karp on Iran’s attack on three Amazon data centers: They are evil, they are not stupid, as …

Palantir CEO Alex Karp made a series of statements, including a claim that artificial intelligence (AI) is giving the US and its allies a decisive advantage in the conflict with Iran. He also warned that Iran’s recent attacks on three Amazon data centres in the Middle East signals a calculated front in modern warfare, essentially highlighting the expanding role of technology in national security.

“What makes America special right now is our lethal capabilities, our ability to fight war,” Karp said at Palantir’s AIPCon 9 conference in Maryland in an interview with CNBC, adding that another significant advantage is that “the AI revolution is uniquely American”.

He pointed to Palantir’s AI solutions as a critical piece of that advantage because of its ability to link and coordinate combat data between the US and its Middle Eastern allies.

“If you were attacked and you needed to coordinate, you would have to have a coordinating function. There’s only one product that can actually do that for security,” Karp added.

Karp criticises Iran’s bombing of Amazon data centres

Karp also addressed Iran’s attack on three Amazon data centres in the Middle East. The report notes that US data centres are increasingly being viewed as national security assets, housing critical digital infrastructure used by governments, militaries and major corporations – And, as per analysts, targeting them is strategic.

“They’re evil, they’re not stupid. “Look who’s on the list, look who’s not. We’re in the middle of war. You would expect it to be a list of hardcore military companies. They are interested in the things they can’t produce,” he said.

Role of Palantir’s Project Maven in US-Iran war

Palantir has Project Maven – Palantir’s real-time AI surveillance platform that uses satellite imagery to track and analyse military targets. The platform has previously been reported to have played a role in significant operations, including, according to the Wall Street Journal, its use alongside Anthropic’s Claude AI in the capture of Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro.

When asked whether Project Maven was involved in the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Karp declined to confirm or deny it.

“I have read that Palantir’s Project Maven is the core backbone of that. And then I’ve also read that all the allies, Arab and non-Arab in the Middle East, may or may not be users of our platform as well, and that’s expanding rapidly,” he was quoted as saying.

Palantir has long been associated with defence and intelligence work, and as per Karp, the company’s commercial operations are surging. Its US commercial revenue jumped 137% in the fourth quarter to $507 million.
