Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra launched: From India price to features, here is everything you need to know

Xiaomi has launched its latest flagship smartphones in India. The company has brought two devices as part of the Xiaomi 17 series, the base Xiaomi 17 and the 17 Ultra. Both phones cater to the high-end segment, with the 17 Ultra particularly focusing on users who want the best camera experience in a smartphone.

The Chinese phonemaker hopes to make a premium push in India with the two new devices. And here is everything you need to know about the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra.

Do note that Xiaomi does not plan to launch the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max in India for now.

Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra design and build

The Xiaomi 17 is a compact device. The phone gets a flat aluminium frame with a glass back. The 17 comes with four circular cutouts on the back that house the cameras and the flash. The Xiaomi 17 weighs 191g with a thickness of 8.06mm.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra takes things up a notch when it comes to the design. The back is dominated by a large circular camera module. The 17 Ultra also gets a flat aluminium frame. The top-of-the-line flagship has a thickness of 8.29mm thick and weighs roughly 218g

Both phones come with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra cameras

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra comes with a 1-inch 50-megapixel primary in partnership with Leica. The sensor uses Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor or LOFIC tech, that allows it to provide better dynamic range and image clarity across lighting conditions.

The 17 Ultra also packs a 200-megapixel Samsung HPE telephoto sensor that comes with mechanical optical zoom, ranging from 75mm to 100mm. You also get a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 ultrawide lens.

The 17 Ultra also supports Dolby Vision when it comes to video recording.

On the front, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra packs a 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50M sensor.

The vanilla Xiaomi 17 packs three 50-megapixel sensors on the rear – a main, a telephoto and an ultrawide – with Leica branding. The telephoto sensor is a floating telephoto that can allow the sensor to capture macro shots as close as 10cm.

The front sensor on the Xiaomi 17 is the same 50-megapixel sensor as the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra display, performance and battery

On the front, the base Xiaomi 17 uses a 6.3-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. The 17 Ultra packs a 6.9-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED panel with the same peak brightness. LTPO panels can switch from 120Hz down to as low as 1Hz to save battery.

For performance, the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Both phones get UFS 4.1 storage. While the base 17 comes with LPDDR5X RAM, the 17 Ultra gets LPDDR5X Ultra RAM.

The Xiaomi 17 packs a 6,330mAh battery while the 17 Ultra comes with a 6,000mAh cell. Both batteries are high density silicon-carbon cells. The base 17 gets support for 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. On the other hand, the 17 Ultra comes with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra price in India

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is priced at Rs 1,39,999 in India for the sole 16GB/512GB variant. Buyers can avail bank offers up to Rs 10,000. During the early bird offers, buyers will receive the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Photography Kit Pro worth Rs 19,999 for free.

The Xiaomi 17 starts at Rs 89,999 for the 12GB/256GB variant. The 12GB/512GB model will cost you Rs. 99,999. As part of launch offers, you can grab the 512GB variant at the price of the base storage model.

Both devices go on sale on March 13, and will be available across Xiaomi’s official website, Amazon, and retail partners.
