Posters welcome Nishant ahead of JD(U) entry

Posters welcoming Nishant Kumar in the JD(U) appeared across Patna on Saturday, a day before he is set to formally join the party.

The posters described his political entry as “the beginning of a new chapter of a developed Bihar” and were seen as signalling a shift in mood among party workers who had been protesting for the past two days after CM Nitish Kumar’s decision to move to the Rajya Sabha.

Several posters were spotted outside the JD(U) office, prominently featuring Nitish alongside references to Nishant’s expected leadership role. Similar messaging was visible inside the party office, where workers said their resentment over Nitish leaving the CM’s post was being mellowed down by anticipation of his son’s entry into active politics.

Mohammad Ainul Haque, state vice president of the JD(U) youth wing, said workers had been angry when news broke about Nitish’s Rajya Sabha move.

He said the mood had changed with Nishant’s impending induction. “Now we are happy that Nishant Ji is joining the party and we have full hope that he will run the party in a similar way his father did,” Haque said. He also said Nitish had assured workers he would continue monitoring the situation and take care of the state.

Naresh Kumar Nirala, a JD(U) worker, who travelled from Surajgarha in Lakhisarai to Patna, said the anger had not fully dissipated but was expected to subside if Nishant takes charge. “But it will subside when Nishant Ji takes over the party’s helm and the state’s affair. We expect to see him as the next CM,” he said, adding that he rushed to Patna on Friday after hearing the news and was now waiting for Nishant to take over.
