When it comes to short course trucks, brands like Traxxas, FMS, and Losi have long ruled the roost. But now MJX Hyper Go has entered the scene with the 14211, a short course race truck that looks seriously promising. Let’s take a closer look at what it offers, and very soon we’ll take it out for a drive as well.
MJX Hypergo 14211: Design and features
Being a short-course truck, the 14211 looks very smart. It comes with a Lexan body that feels quite durable. The colours and decals are of high quality, and the multi-colour treatment gives the truck a very cool overall appearance.
The 14211 also comes with LED headlights and an integrated LED light bar in the grille. The lighting system is quite powerful and allows you to run the truck even in the dark. The lights can also be controlled via the remote. Unfortunately, the company hasn’t provided any rear lights, so we’ve added dome-shaped reflective stickers at the back for better visibility.
Take a closer look at the bonnet and you’ll notice it’s secured with old-school body clips. We actually prefer body clips over built-in clip systems or magnets, as they provide better integrity between the body and the chassis. The downside, of course, is that they can fall off. MJX Hyper Go has addressed this by securing the clips with rubber bungs, which greatly reduces the chances of losing them.
Inside, MJX Hyper Go has included a moulded interior, complete with two driver figures. The detailing is quite good, and even the dashboard has been nicely finished. If scale realism is your thing, this is a welcome touch.
On the roof, the 14211 gets roof rails, which could come in handy for mounting accessories. The bumpers at both ends look tough and are made from good-quality plastic.
Another nice touch is that the 14211 comes with a spare set of tyres and wheels. Black wheels come as standard, while a set of white wheels is included as a spare. The tyres appear quite grippy, though we’ll be able to comment more on their performance after a proper day of bashing. With a ground clearance of 31mm, the 14211 is sure set to go over most obstacles without much worry.
Overall, the MJX Hyper Go 14211 certainly looks very attractive.
MJX Hypergo 14211: What powers the truck
The MJX Hyper Go 14211 is built on a full-metal platform, which gives it impressive strength while also adding a fair bit of weight. In total, it tips the scales at 1,208 grams, which is quite substantial for a truck in this class. It also features a CNC-machined aluminium steering assembly that not only adds durability but also looks very cool.
When it comes to suspension, the 14211 continues to impress with 69mm oil-filled, adjustable shock absorbers. It also gets metal differential gears along with ball bearings, which help ensure smoother operation while adding to the truck’s overall durability.
Impressed? There’s more. The 14211 is powered by a powerful 2852 brushless electric motor paired with a 45A ESC. Both the ESC and the motor are equipped with cooling fans to reduce the chances of overheating. With a 2S LiPo battery, the claimed top speed is 45kmph, while switching to a 3S battery pushes the top speed to an impressive 70kmph.
In the box, the company includes a 3,000mAh LiPo battery along with a USB charger. Another notable electronic aid is the G3C gyro. Yes, it comes equipped with one, and it’s adjustable too. With the performance offered by a 3S battery, having a gyro is definitely useful. It helps the truck stay stable through corners and also improves control during jumps. But more on that when we take it out for a drive.
MJX Hypergo 14211: Pricing and availability
Out of the box, the 14211 is ready to run. In addition, the company includes a full extra set of tyres and wheels, some basic tools, a battery pack, a charger, and a 2.4GHz T3D radio transmitter that offers a range of up to 120 metres. Considering MJX Hyper Go has become a well-known brand in India, spare parts are also readily available.
We bought our truck from Cinerigs and paid Rs 17,500 for it. However, the same truck is available from other vendors at significantly higher prices, with some listings touching Rs 20,000. So it’s worth doing a bit of research and buying from the seller offering the best deal.
