Anil Kapoor revisited one of Bollywood’s most iconic comic props, the legendary Majnu Bhai painting from Welcome, on a Holi special episode of ‘Wheel of Fortune’, hosted by Akshay Kumar. An audience member shared that he’s a huge fan of both Anil and Akshay, and an even bigger admirer of the film ‘Welcome’.
Majnu Bhai’s painting fan’s big reveal
The fan said he brought the famous Majnu Bhai painting and asked about its story. Anil replied that he still owns the original painting. Discussing the painting’s rise as a meme icon, Anil shared, “Log ye painting ke saath memes banate rehte hain, magar iske peeche ek depth hai, ek story hai, aur ek seriousness bhi hai” (People keep making memes with this painting, but there is depth, a story and seriousness behind it). Aap log iska mazaak uda dete ho, memes bana ke, aur log sochte hain, kaisi painting hai,” (You make fun of it by creating memes and people wonder what kind of painting it is). ”
Majnu Bhai’s painting T-shirt royalties joke
Kapoor pointed out that T-shirts featuring the painting are for sale, and Radhika Madan admitted she owns one. Anil quipped that he pockets royalties from them, cracking up a stunned Akshay. Unpacking the artwork’s true essence, Anil stated, “Iske peeche ek philosophy hai” (There is a philosophy behind it). He broke it down: the horse embodies hustle and drive, contrasting the lazy donkey.

Adding a funny twist, Anil described how the hardworking horse gets overshadowed by the credit-stealing donkey, mirroring office boss-worker dynamics. He quizzed the crowd: horse or donkey? On the Welcome series, he remarked, “Sabse pehle toh Akshay Sahab ke saath maine ye film ki thi Welcome 1, fir 2 mein ye nahi the, fir 3 mein mujhe nikal diya aur Welcome 4 hum fir saath mein karenge” (First of all, I did Welcome 1 with Akshay Sahab, then he wasn’t there in part 2, then I was removed in part 3, and Welcome 4 we will do together again).
Majnu Bhai’s painting from ‘Welcome’
Discussing the iconic Majnu Bhai painting, which first appeared in the 2007 blockbuster ‘Welcome’ even 20 years after its release, Anil highlighted how the quirky artwork, drawn by his character Majnu Bhai, became one of the film’s most unforgettable comic highlights. Directed by Anees Bazmee, ‘Welcome’ (2007) featured Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal, and Feroz Khan in key roles, with Mallika Sherawat earning praise for her lively performance.
