What if Donald shouts at me? Trump posts spoof mocking UK PM’s anxiety over Iran

The relationship between the US President and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has suffered another blow after Donald Trump shared a television skit mocking the Prime Minister.

The video, posted by Trump on his Truth Social platform without any comment, shows a fictionalised version of Starmer struggling to handle a call from the US President. The skit, aired on Sky One as part of the debut episode of Saturday Night Live UK, portrays Starmer as anxious and unsure while dealing with Donald Trump. In one scene, the character panics about receiving a call and asks his deputy, “Oh golly – what if Donald shouts at me? What do I say, Lammy?”

The video features actor George Fouracres as Keir Starmer and Hammed Animashaun as Deputy PM David Lammy. The portrayal drew laughter from the audience, particularly when Lammy tells the UK PM: “Just be yourself, Prime Minister. Yourself is who everyone likes.”

In another moment, the character playing Starmer hangs up the phone after hearing a voice resembling Trump and says: “Oh sod that scary, scary, wonderful President. Why is he so bloody difficult to talk to?”

STRAIT OF HORMUZ TENSIONS FEATURE IN SKIT

Trump has repeatedly blasted Starmer over Britain’s stance on the Iran war and its limited support in securing the Strait of Hormuz. In the sketch, Lammy advises Starmer to tell Trump that Britain cannot send more ships to the Strait of Hormuz.

“Sir, just be honest and tell him we can’t send any more ships to the Strait of Hormuz,” the character says. Starmer responds with a line that drew laughs but also hinted at criticism: “I just hate conflict so much.”

Lammy then jokes: “Are you referring to the war, or just this phone call?”

The exchange continues with Starmer saying: “I just want to keep him happy, Lammy I can change him.”

TRUMP TARGETS UK OVER LIMITED SUPPORT

Bilateral relations between Trump and Starmer are already strained, and the Iran conflict has only made things worse. Trump has repeatedly criticised the UK for not doing enough to support US efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, expressing frustration over Britain’s limited role.

He has previously called some allies “cowards”, in what he sees as a lack of support. The two leaders have also clashed on other issues, including free speech and Trump’s bid to annex Greenland despite earlier attempts to present a cooperative front.
