IndiGo Cancels Iran, Israel Flights, Reroutes Others Amid Middle East Tensions

IndiGo, India’s largest carrier, has cancelled all flights to and from Iran and Israel and is altering flight paths for other international routes due to escalating Middle East tensions. The airline is implementing pre-planned contingency routes, which may result in longer flight times and delays for passengers.

Key Updates for Passengers

  • All IndiGo flights to/from Iran and Israel are cancelled.
  • Other international routes are being rerouted to avoid affected airspace.
  • Expect longer flight times and potential delays.
  • Passengers must check their flight status before heading to the airport.

Official Statement and Operational Changes

In an official statement, IndiGo said, “In view of the ongoing situation in parts of the Middle East, we are making changes to flight paths of some of our flights. Contingency routes, which are kept available to ensure operational continuity during such eventualities, are being used instead.”

The airline confirmed the changes are a direct response to the recent security situation, after Iran launched drones and missiles at Israel over the past weekend. This move aligns with actions taken by several other international airlines that have also suspended or rerouted flights in the region.

Travel Advisory for Flyers

IndiGo has strongly advised all passengers on international routes to check their flight status via the airline’s official app or website before leaving for the airport. The use of alternative flight paths is a standard safety procedure, but it disrupts scheduled timings. The airline has not specified a timeline for the resumption of normal operations to the affected destinations.

The situation remains fluid, and travellers are urged to stay updated on further announcements from the airline and relevant authorities.
