‘Those Blue States’: Trump gives Vance new ‘fraud czar’ role to investigate Democrat-run regions

US President Donald Trump on Friday gave a new role to his deputy, JD Vance, appointing him the new “fraud czar” and saying that the Vice President will focus on investigating fraud in Democratic-run states in his new role.

While Trump’s Truth Social post about Vance’s new role said he would focus on fraud everywhere, it also clarified that his primary focus would be “Blue States,” a term used for regions that primarily vote Democrat.

‘EVERYWHERE,’ but primarily in those Blue States,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social, singling out California, Illinois, Minnesota, Maine and New York.

Trump said that “raids have already started” in Los Angeles, where on Thursday, federal prosecutors announced that eight people had been charged in separate cases for trying to defraud the health care system out of $50 million.

Prosecutors said those cases were pursued in coordination with Vance’s Task Force to Eliminate Fraud.

Vance touted the arrests on a social media post on Thursday, saying the “task force isn’t wasting any time cracking down on fraud.”

Trump signed an executive order last month launching a national task force led by Vance aimed at proving the president’s claims that federal funds intended for social-welfare programs are being stolen in some states.

JD Vance’s stance on the Iran war

JD Vance has been more hawkish about the US-Iran war of late after the initially reported scepticism, with the US Vice President threatening increased pressure on Iranian infrastructure if a deal to end the conflict is not reached soon.

At the start of the war, Politico had reported that Vance was sceptical about the conflict, but he has clarified that he stood with Trump once it began.

Vance has maintained that despite his past concerns about foreign intervention, he trusts President Trump’s handling of the situation.
