President Donald Trump on Thursday announced that Pam Bondi is no longer his Attorney General. She is being replaced by her deputy Todd Blanche. This comes a day after The New York Times first reported that the president is ‘frustrated’ with Bondi of her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein documents. The administration, as per AP, was also concerned about the Justice Department facing hurdles while investigating his perceived enemies.
What did Trump say?
In a post on Truth Social, Trump called Bondi a ‘Great American Patriot and a loyal friend’. He added that she ‘faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year’.
“Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900. We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Pam Bondi’s new role
While the president did not reveal his plans for Bondi, he stated that she will have a ‘much needed and important new job’. However, it is in the private sector. This means that the former AG could be leaving the administration soon.

Meanwhile, Deputy AG, who will take up Bondi’s job in the interim, reacted to his former boss being fired.
“Pam Bondi led this Department with strength and conviction and I’m grateful for her leadership and friendship. Thank you to President Trump for the trust and the opportunity to serve as Acting Attorney General. We will continue backing the blue, enforcing the law, and doing everything in our power to keep America safe,” he wrote on X, platform formerly known as Twitter.
Accusations against Pam Bondi
Bondi, a former Florida attorney general, came into office last year pledging that she would not play politics with the Justice Department, but she quickly started investigations of Trump foes, sparking an outcry that the law enforcement agency was being wielded as a tool of revenge to advance the president’s political and personal agenda.
She ushered in a period of intense turmoil at the department that included the firings of career prosecutors deemed insufficiently loyal to Trump and the resignations of hundreds of other employees. Her departure continues a trend of Justice Department upheaval that has defined Trump’s presidency as multiple attorneys general across his two terms have either been pushed out or resigned after proving unwilling or unable to meet his demands for the position.
Bondi rejected accusations that she politicized the Justice Department and said her mission was to restore the institution’s credibility after overreach by President Joe Biden’s Democratic administration with two federal criminal cases against Trump. Bondi’s defenders have said she worked to refocus the department to better tackle illegal immigration and violent crime and brought much-needed change to an agency they believe unfairly targeted conservatives.
