Balochistan Liberation Army Launches Twin Attacks in Quetta
In a major escalation, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) carried out two coordinated attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on January 30, 2026, targeting a bank and a security convoy, resulting in significant casualties.
Key Details of the Attacks
The first assault targeted the Faysal Bank branch in Quetta’s Hazar Ganji area. Militants used mortar shells before entering the building.
The second attack was a suicide bombing on a Frontier Corps (FC) convoy in the Kuchlak area.
BLA Claims Responsibility
The BLA claimed both operations under the name “Operation Hero.” The group stated its Majeed Brigade executed the suicide attack, while its Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS) carried out the bank assault.
Security Response and Casualties
Pakistani security forces have cordoned off both locations. Emergency services are on site. Official casualty figures are pending, but local reports indicate several security personnel and civilians were killed or injured.
