Israeli strike destroys aircraft used by Khamenei at Tehran airport

The Israeli military on Monday said it had destroyed an aircraft once used by Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei during an overnight strike at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran, according to Reuters.

According to the Israeli military, the aircraft had been used by senior Iranian officials and military figures for both domestic and international travel, and for coordinating with allied countries.

Mehrabad, one of Tehran’s oldest airports, primarily handles domestic and regional flights. It also serves as a dual-use facility hosting air force assets alongside civilian operations and remains the busiest domestic airport in Iran.

In another development, a densely populated residential complex in Arak was hit in a missile strike carried out by the United States and Israel, state-run Press TV reported.

FUJAIRAH PORT HIT

Meanwhile, Port of Fujairah has again come under drone attack amid the escalating conflict involving the United States, Iran and Israel. The strike triggered a fire in the emirate’s petroleum industrial zone, two sources told Reuters.

Oil loading operations have been suspended at the port in United Arab Emirates, the sources said.

Fujairah, located on the Gulf of Oman just outside the Strait of Hormuz, is a critical exit point for about one million barrels per day of the UAE’s Murban crude — roughly 1% of global oil demand.

STRIKE NEAR CHABAHAR FREE TRADE ZONE

US fighter jets have also reportedly targeted military facilities near the Chabahar Free Trade-Industrial Zone, Al Jazeera reported, citing a report by Voice of America’s Persian service.

According to the report, loud explosions were heard in a mountainous area behind the zone following the strikes.

DUBAI AIRPORT RESUMES FLIGHTS

Meanwhile, Dubai International Airport has resumed flight operations after a temporary suspension of about seven hours caused by a drone strike near a fuel tank facility.

Authorities had halted flights to and from the airport for a short period, leading to widespread travel disruption before operations gradually returned to normal.
