Iran denies role in Turkey, Oman strikes; vows to fight against ‘global arrogance’

Iranian leader Mojtaba Khamenei has denied any involvement of Iran or allied forces in recent attacks targeting locations in Turkey and Oman, calling the incidents a “false flag” operation aimed at creating discord between the Islamic Republic and its neighbours.

In a detailed statement marking the upcoming Iranian year 1405, Khamenei said such actions were part of a broader strategy by the “Zionist enemy” to undermine regional relations and warned that similar attempts could occur in other countries as well.

Extending greetings on Eid al-Fitr to Muslims worldwide, Khamenei also hailed what he described as “resounding triumphs” achieved by Iran’s armed forces in what he referred to as the “third imposed war.” He claimed that adversaries had sought to instill fear and despair among Iranians but failed due to national unity and resistance.

Reflecting on the past year, Khamenei said Iran had faced three major military and security confrontations, including a June conflict with Israel supported by the United States, a January “coup attempt,” and the ongoing war. He accused enemies of miscalculating public sentiment, asserting that instead of triggering unrest, these events strengthened national cohesion.

He emphasised that Iranian citizens had “endured three confrontations” and credited public participation, including demonstrations and national events, for countering external pressure. According to him, widespread unity across political, cultural, and religious lines had dealt a “confusing blow” to adversaries.

On the economic front, Khamenei announced the slogan for the new year as a “resistance economy in light of national unity and national security.” He stressed the need to address long-standing economic and managerial weaknesses, improve livelihoods, and strengthen welfare infrastructure as part of what he described as an ongoing economic war.

He also warned domestic media against amplifying internal weaknesses, saying such narratives could aid enemy psychological operations aimed at weakening national security.

Khamenei highlighted the importance of regional ties, particularly with neighbouring countries such as Pakistan and Afghanistan, urging stronger relations and cooperation among Muslim nations. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to engagement based on shared religious, cultural, and strategic interests.

The statement combined religious messaging with political and military assertions, linking national unity, economic resilience, and regional diplomacy as key priorities for the year ahead.
