“Grieving widow”: Candace Owens reignites Erika Kirk feud while questioning Defense Department advisory role tied to Charlie Kirk’s legacy

Erika Kirk’s name suddenly became a talking point online after she was appointed to the United States Air Force Academy Board of Visitors. The board helps review how the academy runs and gives advice to the U. S. Defense Department on issues related to the school and its cadets. Soon after the announcement, conservative commentator Candace Owens reacted on social media and questioned the decision. Replying to a post about the appointment, Candace Owens wrote, “Erika Kirk will help advise the Defense Department on issues affecting the academy. ”

But Candace Owens did not stop there. She followed it with a sharp remark that quickly spread across social media.

“She’s a grieving widow so we have no right to ask what the hell qualifies her to a position advising our Defense Department. This is all perfectly normal and only people who are DEMONIC would question this appointment.” Her post again drew attention to the already tense history between Candace Owens and Erika Kirk.

Candace Owens and Erika Kirk rivalry returns after she was appointed to United States Air Force Academy Board of Visitors

The reaction from Candace Owens did not appear out of nowhere. The two women have already been linked through a public online dispute that gained attention months earlier.

Earlier reports said Candace Owens had started a content series that discussed Erika Kirk and her personal story. The series was widely talked about on social media. Reports later suggested that the series titled “Bride of Charlie” was discontinued after its viewership began to drop. The publication noted that the project lost momentum as audience interest slowly faded.

Even after that, conversations around Erika Kirk did not fully disappear online. Her personal story and the earlier discussions around it continued to be mentioned by commentators and media personalities. Because of that background, the new appointment quickly brought the rivalry back into public view.

Donald Trump’s decision placed Erika Kirk in a role connected to the United States Air Force Academy, one of the most well-known military academies in the country. Members of the academy’s Board of Visitors usually review academic programs, student life, and overall operations. They then share feedback with the Defense Department and government leaders.

Candace Owens’ comment, however, shifted the focus from the board’s work to the ongoing disagreement between the two women. Social media users began sharing the post widely, with many debating the tone of her statement and the background of the appointment.

Despite the online reaction, Erika Kirk herself has not publicly responded to Candace Owens’ remarks as of now.

For many observers, the moment once again showed how quickly personal rivalries can resurface when a new political or public development puts someone back in the spotlight.
