Bill Stevenson, the former husband of US First Lady Jill Biden, has been arrested and charged with the murder of his current wife, Michelle. The 72-year-old was taken into custody in Colorado on Tuesday.

Stevenson was married to Jill Biden from 1970 to 1975, prior to her marriage to President Joe Biden. A former football player, he is also known to have assisted Joe Biden during his first Senate campaign in 1972.

Stevenson is currently being held without bond at the Arapahoe County Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings.
