Your brain is under attack: Neuralink head of surgery calls algorithms evil, says humans must resist them

Neuralink’s Head of Surgery Mechanical Engineering, Danish Hussein, made a bold declaration on X. Hussein claimed that AI algorithms were attacking our brains every day, and humans must not fall for it.

In his post, Hussein says that humans are being targeted by trillion-dollar algorithms every day. These AI algorithms were created after pouring trillions of dollars.

Human vs AI algorithms

The Neuralink chief explained that users had to stop giving in to these algorithms as they had one purpose – to destroy your brain.. Danish Hussein wrote, “This is your David vs Goliath. Resist the algorithm.”

Benjamin de Kraker Neuralink

Benjamin de Kraker replied to Danish Hussein’s post on X.

In one reply, Danish made it clear that humans should retain their freedom to think, something that algorithms actively try to prevent. He added, “The algorithm is an inherent evil in that it robs you of your freedom to choose what to think about next. Secure your mind.”

Neuralink Danish

Danish explained that algorithms aim to take away your freedom of choosing what to do next.

Former xAI engineer Benjamin De Kraker replied to Danish’s post. Benjamin wrote, “‘Resist the algorithm’ – Elon’s chief brain surgeon (literally)”, emphasising the importance of Hussain’s comments. As the Neuralink chief understands the intricacies of how algorithms may affect one’s brain.

Social media algorithms are designed to keep users hooked to the platform. Usually, algorithms show content that would match a user’s preferences, and make them want to use the app for longer. Studies have found that this can not only make one addicted, but can also lead to a lack of focus or increase ADHD-like symptoms in children.

What is Neuralink?

Neuralink is arguably one of the most ambitious projects of Elon Musk. Founded in 2016, the project aims to implant brain-computer interface (BCI) chips in people’s brains that would, in theory, enable users to control devices with their thoughts.

This can be particularly useful for people suffering from severe paralysis who may be unable to manually control devices.

A few weeks ago, Elon Musk stated that high-volume production of brain-computer interface (BCI) chips is scheduled to begin this year. The tech billionaire has stated that the surgical procedure will also be “almost entirely automated.”

Neuralink devices will now be planted through the dura of the brain without removing it, something Musk called a “big deal.” The dura is the tough outermost layer that protects the brain and spinal cord.

Are people using Neuralink?

In 2025, Neuralink received FDA approval for its device as a tool for speech restoration targeting severe speech impairments. The company also raised $650 million during its Series E funding round, reaching a valuation of $9 billion.

As of September 2025, Neuralink claims that 12 people with severe paralysis had received implants. Though posts on X indicate that the participant count might be closer to 20.

Participants using the Neuralink device have demonstrated the ability to play video games, browse the internet, post on social media, and move a cursor on a laptop using thought alone. The company’s recent expansion includes international clinical trials, with surgeries in Canada and the UK.
