Xiaomi announces Redmi Note 15 SE 5G, India launch set for April 2

Redmi is gearing up to launch the next smartphone in its Note series, the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G. It will succeed the Redmi Note 14 SE, which debuted last year. The Xiaomi sub-brand has already gone live with a dedicated microsite, revealing the phone’s design, colour option, and confirming its launch date as April 2.

The Redmi Note 15 SE will be available via Flipkart. Speculation suggests it could be a rebranded version of the Chinese Redmi Note 15 New Year Cherry Red Edition, as the teaser hints at a similar design — a deep red finish paired with a gold-coloured metal frame. However, part of the rear panel remains concealed behind a red curtain, obscuring the camera layout, which appears to feature a squircle-shaped rear camera module.

The Redmi Note 14 SE was originally launched under Rs 15,000, making it the most affordable smartphone in the brand’s Note lineup. However, the pricing has changed since then, and it is now listed at Rs 19,999 on Redmi’s official website. This increase could be attributed to the current rising memory costs. So, when it comes to the Redmi Note 15 SE, we can expect the price to be slightly higher.

Redmi Note 15 SE expected specs and features

The Redmi Note 15 SE is expected to feature a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3,200 nits peak brightness. It could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset. In terms of optics, the smartphone may sport a 108-megapixel primary rear camera paired with an 8-megapixel secondary sensor, along with a 20-megapixel front camera for selfies. The device is also likely to pack a 5,520mAh battery with 45W fast charging support. Additionally, it may come with IP65 and IP66 ratings, providing resistance against dust and water.

For context, the Redmi Note 14 SE features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2,100 nits peak brightness. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra chipset, offering capable performance for everyday use. In terms of optics, the smartphone comes with a 50-megapixel primary rear camera, accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 2-megapixel macro sensor, along with a 20-megapixel front camera for selfies. The device is backed by a 5,110mAh battery with support for 45W wired fast charging.
