Artificial intelligence is taking over the internet. We all have AI features in our smartphones now, be it Gemini or ChatGPT. However, these chatbots need manual prompts to do things for you, be it setting a reminder or finding information. Now, Tecno is going a step further. The smartphone maker is bringing AI agents to your phone that will do tasks for you automatically.
Tecno has introduced EllaClaw, a mobile AI agent, built on the agentic AI platform OpenClaw. The phonemaker claims that EllaClaw will work at the system level and can manage various tasks, such as automatically prioritising important SMS and other notifications.
What is EllaClaw?
EllaClaw is an agentic AI built on OpenClaw – an open-source AI agent that can run locally on your computer. An AI agent works by automating tasks via Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT and Gemini.
However, EllaClaw will not require users to set up the agent themselves – something that usually needs technical knowhow. Rather, Users can activate EllaClaw directly within the Ella assistant and give simple prompts in everyday language to get tasks done – without having to know coding.
What can Tecno’s AI agent do?
EllaClaw will be able to do your tasks automatically on three different levels. At the basic level, the agent will support one-sentence automation. That is, you can give a simple one-line prompt and the AI will do the rest, such as scheduling an event or managing files.
The AI agent can also integrate data across apps. For instance, the agent will prioritise flight update SMS if you have received your boarding pass via email.
Tecno claims that EllaClaw will learn your habits overtime and work as a digital companion. The agent will be able to find relevant information based on your habits. In theory, the agent may be ready to book an Uber at the time you usually leave for work. Though, Tecno is yet to give more details on how this feature will work.
Can I use EllaClaw?
In a press release, Tecno stated that it will start the beta rollout for EllaClaw soon. Interested users will be able to join the programme.
On the privacy front, Tecno claims that user data will be protected from unauthorised access or third parties.
