Oura ring officially launched in India, price starts from Rs 28,900

When it comes to smart rings, the kind that can track health and sleep, Oura is arguably the most recognised brand in the world. In fact, the company has created this category. Now Oura is officially entering India with its smart ring and the accompanying service.

The company is launching the full lineup of the Oura ring in India, with its price starting from Rs 28,900. This is the price for Black and Silver variants. The price for the Stealth, Brushed Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold variants is Rs 39,900.

The Oura ring is a smart device similar to a smartwatch and for its users collects over 50 data points related to health and sleep. But it is small and rather unobtrusive. Though it also lacks a display. The ring is made of lightweight titanium — though different colours and finishes are available — and works by pairing with an accompanying app that you can install on your phone.

Oura says that its ring uses its proprietary “Smart Sensing” technology, that adjusts the sensors in the device to each person’s unique body – including finger shape, skin tone, and other individual differences. The company says that the ring’s multi-wavelength sensing system and 18 signal pathways give a clearer, more reliable picture of a user’s body, turning those signals into more precise, personalised health insights.

Talking of which, the ring is sold alongside a subscription plan that is MUST to access the data and reports that the device generates. This plan in India will start at a monthly price of Rs 599.

Along with the launch of the ring, Oura has also released a report based on the data collected from existing users in India. The company notes that according to its data, “Indian Oura members get some of the shortest sleep in the world, missing out on precious time in REM and deep sleep stages.” The report notes that in India people average 6 hours and 28 minutes of sleep per night, which is around 40 minutes less than the countries where people are getting the best sleep.

“We created this report to understand the value Oura can bring in improving the lives of millions of Indians,” said Doug Sweeny, chief marketing officer at the company. “Sleep is the foundation of health, but Indians’ ultraconnected, fastpaced lives are at odds with getting great sleep. Oura Ring can help people across India better understand their unique health and make small, sustainable changes that add up over time.”
