Amid ongoing speculation about a possible shutdown, OnePlus has announced that it will expand its after-sales service infrastructure by 50 percent starting April 2026. The additional capacity will not come from newly opened OnePlus service centres. Instead, the company plans to leverage the established service network of its parent company, Oppo.
With the expansion, the number of authorised OnePlus service centres will grow from around 400 to more than 600. The move will also expand the company’s service coverage to about 500 cities across India, including several Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets.
As part of this announcement, OnePlus said that its product development and community initiatives will remain fully operational.
“OnePlus also reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the Indian market, with product development and community initiatives continuing as usual. All existing warranties, software updates, and user commitments will remain uninterrupted,” the company said.
Meanwhile, the decision to expand service capacity using Oppo’s network comes at a time when speculation is growing that the company could wind down operations in certain markets. Adding to the speculation is the recent resignation of OnePlus India CEO Rubin Liu, who will step down on March 31 and return to China to pursue personal interests.
Earlier, Liu had dismissed reports suggesting that OnePlus was shutting down operations in several regions. He had described such claims as misinformation and reassured stakeholders that the company’s operations would continue.
Company says India operations will continue
Despite Liu’s departure and the company’s move to leverage Oppo’s service network, OnePlus has said that its India operations will continue under the existing strategy. While confirming Liu’s exit in an official statement, the company indicated that there are no immediate changes expected in its local business. More clarity on the company’s India operations is expected in the coming days.
Speculation around a potential shutdown began after a report by Android Headlines suggested that OnePlus was quietly reducing its presence in certain regions. The report claimed that shipments declined in 2024, some products were cancelled, and teams in the US and Europe were scaled down. It also suggested that more key decisions were being handled from China, which could have resulted in fewer launches in Western markets.
