Thai Students Get Free Google AI Access in Digital Skills Push

Key Takeaways

  • Thai students aged 18+ get free Google AI Pro access for one year
  • Registration deadline is December 9, 2025
  • Program to expand to 5 million Thais in next phase
  • Partnership focuses on data protection and critical thinking skills

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has launched a strategic partnership with Google Cloud to provide free AI tools to Thai students. Students aged 18 and above can access the Google AI Pro package for personal use for one year, with registration open until December 9, 2025.

DES Minister Chaichanok Chidchob stated this initiative aims to unlock Thailand’s potential through AI technology. “The ministry is committed to make access to AI technology a basic right for all citizens,” he emphasized.

Expanding Access Nationwide

The program represents a significant step toward bridging the digital divide. The ministry plans to expand the offer to cover over 5 million Thais in the next phase, ensuring no one is left behind in the AI revolution.

Minister Chaichanok highlighted that the government has a clear mission to promote equal AI access for all Thais. He identified students as a key generation that will drive the country’s future development.

Data Protection and Critical Thinking

The collaboration prioritizes personal data protection using Google Cloud’s enterprise-level security measures. Simultaneously, the ministry is addressing concerns about over-reliance on technology by encouraging analytical thinking and reasoning skills among young users.

“The use of AI, which balances technology with human thinking, is the core of sustainable development,” Mr Chaichanok added.

National Learning Solutions

Annop Siritikul, Country Director of Google Cloud Thailand, revealed that the partnership will develop national-level learning solutions using Google’s Vertex AI platform and Gemini models. The Vertex AI Model Garden will ensure flexibility and integration with industry-leading AI models.

Initially, the program will offer online training courses with step-by-step instruction and hands-on exercises. These are designed to create engaging learning experiences that prepare students for success in both careers and daily life in an AI-driven world.
