ISRO Launches Navy’s GSAT-7R Satellite Today: Watch Live

Key Takeaways

  • ISRO to launch Indian Navy’s GSAT-7R (CMS-03) communication satellite today, November 2, 2025.
  • Lift-off scheduled for 5:26 PM from Sriharikota using the LVM3-M5 ‘Bahubali’ rocket.
  • Watch live on ISRO’s official YouTube channel or DD National.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch the Indian Navy’s advanced GSAT-7R (CMS-03) communication satellite today. The launch window opens at 5:26 PM from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.

Mission Details and Launch Vehicle

Weighing 4,410 kg, the GSAT-7R is the heaviest satellite ever launched by India into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO). It will ride the LVM3-M5 rocket, nicknamed ‘Bahubali’ for its heavy-lift capacity.

The 43.5-meter-tall rocket has been moved to the launch pad for final preparations. This mission marks the fifth operational flight for the LVM3, also known as the GSLV Mk III.

The three-stage vehicle features two S200 solid boosters, a liquid core stage (L110), and a cryogenic upper stage (C25). This configuration gives India complete self-reliance in launching 4,000 kg class communication satellites.

How to Watch the Launch Live

ISRO will provide a live stream of the launch on its official YouTube channel. Television viewers can tune into DD National for live coverage.

Enhancing Naval Capabilities

The GSAT-7R is the most advanced communication satellite built for the Indian Navy. It will significantly upgrade the Navy’s space-based communication network and boost maritime domain awareness across the Indian Ocean Region.

India’s Growing Launch Capability

The LVM3 rocket can carry payloads up to 4,000 kg to GTO and 8,000 kg to Low Earth Orbit. Its S200 boosters were developed in Thiruvananthapuram, while the liquid stage uses Vikas engines from the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre.

This proven rocket previously launched the successful mission. Today’s launch further solidifies India’s capability to indigenously deploy advanced communication satellites.
