According to Intel, the Core Ultra 200S Plus processors bring improvements in gaming, multithreaded workloads, and memory support over the existing Core Ultra 200S desktop series. The company says the new processors can deliver up to 15 per cent higher gaming performance compared to earlier Core Ultra Series 2 desktop chips. Intel also claims gains of up to 103 per cent in multithreaded performance and up to 2x better creator performance when compared with competing processors in the same class.

The hardware changes include an increase in efficiency core counts on the new SKUs. The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus features 24 cores, made up of 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores. The Core Ultra 5 250K Plus features 18 cores, with 6 performance cores and 12 efficiency cores. Intel has also increased die-to-die frequency by up to 900MHz compared with the Core Ultra 7 265K and Core Ultra 5 245K. The company says this helps improve communication between the CPU and memory controller, reducing latency and improving gaming performance.

New Intel Binary Optimization Tool and Better memory support

Intel is also introducing a new software feature called the Intel Binary Optimization Tool. The company describes it as a binary translation layer optimisation capability designed to improve instructions per cycle and enhance performance in select games. Intel says the tool is intended to improve performance in workloads that may have originally been tuned for older x86 processors, different architectures, or console platforms.

Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus Desktop Processors Specs

Memory support has also been updated. The Core Ultra 200S Plus series supports DDR5 memory speeds of up to 7200 MT/s, compared with 6400 MT/s on standard Core Ultra 200S chips. Intel is also continuing support for the Core Ultra 200S Boost BIOS profile, which includes warranty-backed memory overclocking support of up to 8000 MT/s. In addition, Intel says select Intel 800-series motherboards will support upcoming 4-Rank CUDIMM modules, with capacities of up to 128GB per DIMM.

The new processors remain compatible with existing Intel 800-series chipset motherboards. Intel also said additional 800-series motherboard models will be introduced through 2026, including boards designed to support the new memory standard.

Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus Price and Availability

Intel said the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and Core Ultra 5 250K Plus will be available from retail partners starting March 26, 2026. The company listed suggested pricing starting at $299 for the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus and $199 for the Core Ultra 250K Plus. OEM systems and builds from system integrators are also expected to become available around the same time, depending on the region and partner availability.

The launch adds refreshed desktop parts to Intel’s current enthusiast platform, with the company focusing on higher core counts, faster memory support, and software-level optimisation as its main areas of improvement.
