Infosys, Anthropic collaborate to roll out agentic AI for regulated industries

If you can’t beat them, join them. That seems to be the mantra with Indian IT companies as they look to collaborate with US AI giants. On Tuesday Infosys, which saw its stock market performance take a beating due to Anthropic Claude AI several days ago, announced a partnership with Anthropic. The two companies — Anthropic and Infosys — said that they will jointly deploy of agentic AI systems for enterprises.

In a press note, Infosys said that the partnership would first start working on the telecommunications sector by establishing an Anthropic Center of Excellence to create and deploy industry-specific AI agents. Gradually, the two companies will also create AI agents to handle work in financial services, manufacturing, and software development.

One of the key features of the collaboration will see Infosys integrating Anthropic Claude AI in its own AI platform called Topaz. This, according to the two companies, will help enterprises automate their complex workflows.

Commenting on the partnership, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, said: “There’s a big gap between an AI model that works in a demo and one that works in a regulated industry — and if you want to close that gap, you need domain expertise. Infosys has exactly that kind of expertise across important industries: telecom, financial services and manufacturing.”

One of the key features of this partnership is the deployment of agentic AI systems, which are not like traditional chatbots that just answer your questions. These agentic AI systems are capable of independently managing multi-step processes such as generating and testing software code and conducting compliance reviews.

Salil Parekh, CEO of Infosys, echoed the importance of the partnership, and said: “Our collaboration with Anthropic marks a strategic leap toward advancing enterprise AI, enabling organisations to unlock value and become more intelligent, resilient, and responsible.”

Both Infosys and Anthropic plan to use the Claude Code and other developer tools to help organisations build custom AI agents suited for their long, complex workflows. The integration of Infosys Topaz and Claude models will also likely help companies modernise their legacy software.
