Google Pixel 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL tipped to launch with under-display Face ID, Pixel Glow and more

Google is expected to launch the next-generation of its Pixel devices soon. As is the case with the Google Pixel, rumours have already given us some clue about how the Pixel 11 devices may look like. Now, a new leak has emerged that reveals more specifications about the Pixel 11 Pro and the Pixel 11 Pro XL.

On X, tipster Rincon de Mellis shared details about the purported Google Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL. Before we begin, do note that Google is yet to announce the Pixel 11 series.

Google Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, what’s new?

We have already discussed the design of the Pixel 11 Pro and the Pixel 11 Pro XL, which you can check out here. But in brief, you can expect marginal tweaks to the design, with a completely black camera module.

Coming to what’s new. According to the tipster Rincon, the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL will be powered by Google’s new Tensor G6 chipset, which could be built on a 2nm process. A 2nm process should bring in notable performance and efficiency gains compared to last year’s 3nm-based Tensor G5 SoC.

The two devices will also likely use a MediaTek M90 modem. This would replace the Samsung Exynos modems used in previous Pixels, which could allow for better connectivity.

A standout feature for the Pixel 11 series could be Pixel Glow – a new LED notification light feature that may faintly glow on the back of your phone. Think of it as a similar feature to Nothing’s Glyph Lights, but likely a simpler approach. Though leaked renders do not show exactly where the lights may be placed on the Pixel 11 Pro and the Pixel 11 Pro XL.

Google Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL display

The Pixel 11 Pro will likely use a 6.3-inch LTPO display with the Pixel 11 Pro XL tipped to get a 6.8-inch unit. Now, as per the leak, Google may use Samsung’s new M16 OLED panels for both devices. The M16 panels are expected to provide sharper colours with better efficiency.

On top of that, the leak suggests that Google may bring under-display Face ID to the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro. As opposed to the standard face unlock, this could potentially use a system similar to Apple’s Face ID but with sensors placed under the screen. Though it remains unconfirmed.

Google Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, here is what we know

Apart from the display and chipset, the rest of the spec sheet may seem familiar. The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL are expected to continue with the same camera setups as last year – a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 48-megapixel 5x telephoto camera.

On the storage front, you can expect 16GB of RAM on both models, with base storage starting at 256GB, and going up to 1TB.

When it comes to the battery, the Pixel 11 Pro is rumoured to pack a 4,870mAh battery, the same as its predecessor. The Pixel 11 Pro XL may come with a larger battery than the 5,200mah unit on its predecessor. Both devices will also likely support Qi2 wireless charging, first introduced with the Pixel 10 series. Qi2 essentially makes the devices compatible with MagSafe.

Google Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL launch and expected price

Google is expected to unveil the Pixel 11 series in August this year, broadly in line with last year’s schedule. Pricing remains unclear. Google may be forced to increase prices due to rising memory costs. For reference, the Pixel 10 Pro starts in India at Rs 1,09,999, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL is priced at Rs 1,24,999.
