Google launches Stitch, new platform which lets you vibe design app and web pages

With AI coders going all-in on vibe coding, Google now wants designers and app builders to try what it calls “vibe designing.” The company has launched an updated version of its Stitch platform, an AI-native design tool that lets users create app and web interfaces using natural-language prompts instead of traditional wireframes.

According to Google, the tool now allows users to focus on describing the feel, purpose, and user experience of a product rather than manually drawing layouts, making the design process faster and more accessible for both developers and non-designers. With this update, the company is aiming to bridge the gap between idea and interface, allowing anyone to move from concept to high-fidelity UI in minutes.

Demis Hassabis calls Stitch incredible

Stitch was originally introduced as a design-first companion to AI coding tools, but the latest update shifts its focus to what Google calls AI-native software design. The platform now includes a redesigned infinite canvas where users can simply explain what they want to build. For example, they can describe the kind of experience they want users to have or the goal of the app. Instead of drawing wireframes, the tool will generate interactive UI designs from prompts, making it easier to try different ideas without needing advanced design skills.

Features of Stitch

One of the biggest updates to Stitch is the new AI-powered infinite canvas that can handle text, images, code, and UI components in the same workspace. The canvas is also paired with a new design agent that understands the context of the entire project and can suggest changes, create variations, or help explore multiple directions at once. There is also a built-in Agent Manager that tracks different versions of a design so teams can experiment without losing progress.

Stitch also introduces voice-based design controls, allowing users to speak directly to the AI while working. For example, users can say things like “show me three menu options” or “change this screen to a dark theme”, and the interface updates in real time. The system can even ask questions to understand the user’s goal before generating layouts, making the interaction feel closer to brainstorming with a teammate than using a traditional design tool.

In addition to design, Stitch also connects directly to development by letting users export UI layouts into code using its MCP server, SDK, and tools like AI Studio. The platform introduces a new DESIGN.md format to help teams reuse design rules across projects or pull styles from existing websites. Stitch also speeds up testing with one-click interactive previews, where the AI can automatically generate the next screen in a user flow.

Availability and pricing

Google says Stitch is aimed at a wide range of users, from professional designers to founders building their first app. The tool is currently available through Google Labs, where users can try the new AI-native design experience. Google has not announced separate pricing yet, and access appears to be part of its experimental Labs offerings for now.
