Indian Army Orders ₹100 Crore Drones From ideaForge Technology

Indian Army Awards ₹100 Crore Drone Contract to ideaForge

Mumbai-based drone manufacturer ideaForge Technology has secured a substantial ₹100 crore supply order from the Indian Army for its advanced unmanned aerial vehicles, marking a significant boost for indigenous defense technology.

Key Takeaways

  • ₹100 crore total order value from Indian Army
  • ₹75 crore for Zolt next-generation tactical UAV
  • ₹30 crore for SWITCH 2 all-terrain VTOL drone
  • Both drones designed for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions

Order Breakdown and Evaluation Process

The capital emergency procurement includes ₹75 crore for the Zolt unmanned vehicle following extensive field trials in electronic warfare environments and stringent country of origin checks. The SWITCH 2 order is valued at ₹30 crore.

Both UAVs were launched at the Aero India show in Bengaluru earlier this year. The company stated that Zolt underwent rigorous evaluation including electronic warfare environment testing before receiving approval.

Drone Capabilities and Features

Zolt serves as a multi-role platform designed for long-range ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) and precision payload delivery. Purpose-built for modern defense operations, it combines performance, autonomy, and resilience for surveillance missions.

SWITCH 2 has already been battle-tested and inducted into the Army’s arsenal for ISR operations, demonstrating proven capabilities in field conditions.

Leadership Perspective

“This order underscores our commitment to delivering best-in-class systems to our soldiers and creating long-term value for our shareholders while actively shaping the future of this technology and driving adoption,” said Ankit Mehta, Co-founder and CEO of ideaForge Technology Ltd.

Advanced Technical Specifications

Engineered to operate in high-threat, high-altitude, and signal-contested environments, Zolt delivers robust electronic counter-countermeasures capabilities. These include GNSS-denied autonomy and resilience to communication jamming, ensuring operational effectiveness in challenging conditions.
