Apple to soon launch iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in India: Expected price, features and more

Apple is currently riding on the success of the iPhone 17 series. The Cupertino giant made some big changes to its flagship lineup last year, with the Pro models getting a major design change. Apple CEO Tim Cook said late last year that the iPhone 17 devices had “very strong demand.” And it seems that the company has some big plans for its next devices too – the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Over the past few weeks, rumours have surfaced regarding the upcoming iPhones slated to launch later this year. From potential design changes to better performance, here is everything you need to know about the iPhone 18 Pro lineup.

But before we begin, do note that Apple may skip the vanilla iPhone 18 during its fall event this year. Instead, the base iPhone may be launched in early 2027. On the other hand, the iPhone 18 Pro models may launch with the first-ever foldable iPhone.

iPhone 18 Pro design and colours

Apple switched back from titanium to aluminium with the iPhone 17 Pro. It is likely that the Cupertino giant will stick to the same formula with the iPhone 18 Pro too. The design may remain uncharged, with a large camera plateau on the back.

However, the iPhone 18 Pro models may look a little different. Apple is expected to opt for a unified glass finish on the back, instead of the dual-tone design in the iPhone 17 Pro series.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max may also be slightly thicker, with a rumoured thickness of 8.8mm. For context, the iPhone 17 Pro Max has a thickness of 8.75mm.

Following the buzz of the Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro, Apple is reportedly testing new colours for the iPhone 18 Pro series too. Some colours in testing include Burgundy, Purple, and Coffee Brown. Though it is likely that the Burgundy shade will make the final cut.

iPhone 18 Pro display

Early leaks indicated that Apple may get rid of the Dynamic Island for the iPhone 18 Pro models, opting for a punch-hole selfie camera with under-display Face ID instead.

However, according to known tipster, Ice Universe, Apple will simply opt for a smaller Dynamic Island this time around, which would marginally increase the screen real estate on both devices. Though the rumoured iPhone fold is expected to come with punch-hole selfie cameras without Face ID.

It is likely that the iPhone 18 Pro models will carry the same displays we saw last year. The iPhone 18 Pro will likely get a 6.3-inch OLED unit while the iPhone 18 Pro Max may pack a 6.9-inch OLED display. Both devices will support ProMotion, that is, a 120Hz refresh rate.

iPhone 18 Pro performance and battery

Under the hood, the iPhone 18 Pro models will likely be powered by the yet-to-be-announced A20 Pro chip. The new chipset is expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 2-nanometre process.

Reports indicate that the A20 Pro chipset may deliver up to 15 percent faster performance and 30 percent better efficiency compared to the A19 Pro chipset on the iPhone 17 Pro models.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is rumoured to feature a larger battery, estimated at between 5,100 and 5,200mAh. Though this will likely vary depending on the region. The iPhone 17 Pro Max, for reference, came with a 5,088mAh battery in its eSIM only variant. However, the India variant with a physical SIM slot came with a 4,823mAh cell.

iPhone 18 Pro cameras

Apple is expected to retain the triple camera setup – a 48-megapixel primary, a 48-megapixel ultrawide, and a 48-megapixel 4x telephoto – from the iPhone 17 Pro models for the upcoming iPhones.

However, the company is expected to bring a variable aperture on at least the main rear camera, allowing users greater control over exposure and depth of field.

Additionally, the Pro models may incorporate a new three-layer stacked image sensor developed by Samsung which can deliver faster processing and reduced noise.

iPhone 18 Pro launch and expected price

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro models in September this year. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will likely be announced alongside the rumoured foldable iPhone.

Details regarding pricing are scarce. Apple did bump up the prices of the iPhone 17 series last year, and the Cupertino giant may keep them unchanged this time around. For context, the iPhone 17 Pro starts at Rs 1,34,900 in India, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max is priced at Rs 1,49,900.
