Apple reveals WWDC 2026 dates, iOS 27 and AI updates expected

Apple has officially announced the dates for its next Worldwide Developers Conference, setting the stage for a week that could bring some of its most talked-about software changes yet. The upcoming WWDC 2026 will take place from June 8 to June 12, with the event being held online alongside a limited in-person experience at Apple Park.

The keynote, scheduled for June 8, is where all the major announcements are expected. This is typically when Apple reveals the next versions of its operating systems, and this year should be no different. We are likely to see iOS 27 make its debut, along with updates across macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS and visionOS. While these yearly updates are standard, the kind of features coming this time may feel a bit more important than usual.

Apple has already made it clear that artificial intelligence will be a key part of this year’s event. That alone changes the mood around WWDC. In the past, the company has taken a careful approach with AI, choosing to introduce it quietly rather than making big claims. But now, there are signs that Apple is ready to show more of what it has been working on behind the scenes.

One of the biggest expectations is around Siri. The voice assistant has not seen a major leap in a long time, and users have often compared it with newer AI tools that feel more responsive. This year could finally bring a version of Siri that understands context better, keeps track of what’s happening on your device, and responds in a way that feels less mechanical.

Another point of interest is Apple’s reported tie-up with Google to use Gemini for certain AI features. If this is announced on stage, it would be a rare moment where Apple openly leans on external technology for a core experience. At the same time, the company is expected to continue focusing on on-device processing to keep user data private.

Developers attending WWDC, whether online or in person, will also be looking closely at updates to Apple’s tools. The company has already begun adding AI support to Xcode, bringing in coding assistance from tools like ChatGPT and others. There is also a chance that Apple will expand its Foundation Model framework, which allows AI features to work even without an active internet connection.

The event will be streamed live through the Apple Developer app, the company’s official website, and YouTube, making it easy for developers across the world to follow along. For those who want to attend in person at Apple Park, the company is offering limited spots through a random selection process. Applications are open until March 30, and selected participants will be informed on April 2.

Apple is also continuing with its Swift Student Challenge this year, giving young developers an opportunity to showcase their work and be part of the WWDC experience.

Sharing her thoughts on the upcoming event, Apple’s Susan Prescott said, “WWDC is one of the most exciting times for us at Apple because it’s a chance for our incredible global developer community to come together for an electrifying week that celebrates technology, innovation, and collaboration. We can’t wait to see many of you online and in person for what is sure to be one of our best WWDC events yet.”

As always, the announcements made during WWDC will not roll out immediately. Apple is expected to release developer beta versions soon after the keynote, followed by public beta updates in July. The final versions are usually pushed out in September, alongside the company’s new iPhone lineup.
