Richa Ghosh, Smriti Mandhana reunite at Manchester, Deepti Sharma joins Sunrisers

Richa Ghosh has reunited with Smriti Mandhana after being picked by Manchester Super Giants Women in The Hundred Women’s auction on Wednesday, March 11. The wicketkeeper-batter was signed for 50,000 pounds after the Manchester-based franchise opened the bidding and faced no competition from rival teams.

Ghosh recently played a key role in helping Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women win the Women’s Premier League title, where she also shared the dressing room with Mandhana. Their reunion adds further strength to Manchester’s batting line-up ahead of the upcoming season of The Hundred.

Mandhana had earlier joined the franchise as a direct signing in January and will now be part of a star-studded squad that includes Australian legend Meg Lanning and England left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone.

DEEPTI JOINS SUNRISERS

Deepti Sharma has joined Sunrisers Leeds after being picked in the auction for 27,500 pounds. The franchise opened the bidding and eventually secured the Indian all-rounder after no rival teams stepped in with a competing offer.

Deepti, who previously played a key role for London Spirit Women, brings valuable experience and match-winning ability to the Leeds-based side. The Indian star has also enjoyed strong form in global tournaments and franchise leagues, making her a valuable addition to the squad ahead of the upcoming season of The Hundred.

Among the other Indians, Jemimah Rodrigues will play for Southern Brave Women after joining them as a direct signing for 60,000 pounds. It will be her second franchise in the tournament after earlier stints with Sunrisers Leeds Women.

In 19 matches in The Hundred, the right-hander has scored 453 runs, including four half-centuries, with a highest score of 92 not out.

YASTIKA, CHARANI GO UNSOLD

While Richa and Deepti secured teams in the auction, a few Indian players went unsold. Among them was Yastika Bhatia, who entered the auction with a base price of 15,000 pounds, but failed to attract any bids from the franchises.

Left-arm spinner N Shree Charani also went unsold after listing herself at a base price of 27,500 pounds, with none of the teams showing interest during the bidding process.
