Jasprit Bumrah, one of India’s architects in T20 World Cup 2026, joined the MI camp late, just two days before the KKR clash. Bumrah was at the BCCI’s CoE for workload management. Will the pacer play against KKR?

One of the major concerns for KKR would be who will keep wickets. KKR have Tejasvi Dahiya, Tim Seifert, Angkrish Raghuvanshi as wicketkeepers in the squad. While the chances of Dahiya making the playing XI looks bleak, there is a toss-up between Seifert and Raghuvanshi. In fact, one of practice videos suggest Raghuvanshi might don the big gloves as he the Mumbaikar was seen doing the drills extensively at the Wankhede. Don’t forget, Raghuvanshi smashed a hundred during the intra-squad game in Kolkata.

KKR have always been a happy hunting side for Rohit Sharma. In the IPL, Rohit has so far accumulated 1083 runs against KKR at a strike rate of 127.86. In fact, one of Rohit’s IPL hundreds have come against KKR. Only Australian David Warner has more runs than Rohit against KKR.

The absence of star bowlers gives the likes of Umran Malik, Kartik Tyagi a chance to prove themselves at the top level. Tyagi was phenomenal in the intra-squad matches while Malik also looked good in training. What will be KKR’s bowling line-up ?

With Cameron Green, Sunil Narine and Finn Allen all set to play, it will be interesting to see KKR’s fourth foreigner in the line-up. While all fingers point to Blessing Muzarabani, don’t be surprised if the three-time champions opts for a three foreigners in the first XI. Meanwhile, former IPL champion with KKR, Manoj Tiwary reckoned that it will be hard for the Zimbabwean to get a spot in the playing XI consistently.

Among all the teams, KKR have made most injury replacements so far. After going unsold in the auction, KKR roped in Blessing Muzarabani after the Zimbabwean’s stellar show in the T20 World Cup 2026. He was picked primarily as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman, although the KKR’s official statement don’t have a mention of it. Saurabh Dubey and Navdeep Saini were signed as replacements for Akash Deep and Harshit Rana respectively.

Meanwhile, KKR have been hit hard by injuries and off-field issues. After making a strong squad during the auction, KKR were first hit by Mustafizur Rahman storm after the Bangladesh pacer was removed from the IPL due to the political tensions between two countries. Post that, pacers Harshit Rana and Akash Deep were ruled out due to injuries. To add more misery, Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana is yet to join the squad due to fitness issues.

Mumbai Indians will aim to break one streak in IPL. In the last 13 seasons, the five-time champions haven’t been able to win their first games in IPL. Can they be 14th time lucky on Sunday?
