New Western Disturbance to Bring Rain, Snow to North India

Fresh Western Disturbance to Bring Rain, Snow to North India

A new Western Disturbance is approaching North India, set to trigger widespread rainfall and snowfall from Friday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The system will significantly drop temperatures and intensify cold wave conditions across the region.

Key Impact Areas and Forecast

  • Rainfall (Jan 24-25): Light to moderate rain is expected over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh. An orange alert is in place for these states.
  • Snowfall (Jan 24-26): Moderate to heavy snow is forecast for Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
  • Temperature Drop: Delhi’s maximum temperature is likely to fall by 3-4°C due to rain and cloud cover.

Weather Details and Precautions

The IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall in Delhi on Friday and Saturday. This follows a similar system earlier this week that brought rain and snow, causing a sharp temperature dip.

After the disturbance passes, cold northwesterly winds are expected to sweep the plains, further intensifying the cold wave. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates closely.
