NU development dialogue from today

Nalanda University (NU) will host the two-day ‘Nalanda Development Dialogue’ (NDD) from March 8 on its campus in Rajgir, bringing together policymakers, scholars, development practitioners, and thought leaders to deliberate on pathways for sustainable and inclusive development.

“Organised by the university’s Centre for Studies in Development and Sustainability (CSDS), the NDD seeks to create a platform for informed discussion on the future of development thinking, global governance frameworks, and collaborative solutions for inclusive and sustainable growth. The initiative draws inspiration from the ancient Nalanda tradition of global intellectual exchange and aims to revive meaningful policy conversations in a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape,” a university official said on Saturday.

The dialogue will see the participation of several distinguished scholars and policy experts from India and abroad. Key speakers and participants include Dr Shamika Ravi, member of the Economic Advisory Council to the PM and secretary to the Govt of India; Prof Thomas Pogge, Yale University; Prof Deepak Nayyar, Emeritus professor of economics, JNU; Tetsushi Sonobe, professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Tokyo; Stephan Klingebiel, German Institute of Development and Sustainability; Andre de Mello e Souza, International Policy Centre for Inclusive Development (IPC-ID); and Achyut Wagle, vice chancellor of Kathmandu University.

Through the NDD, the university aims to strengthen academic–policy interfaces and encourage collaborative thinking on sustainable futures, particularly in the context of Asia and the Global South, officials said.
