Jake Paul faces another jaw surgery setback after Anthony Joshua knockout as Jutta Leerdam supports him in hospital

Jake Paul is back in a hospital bed again. The 29 year old American boxer has gone through another jaw surgery months after his knockout loss to Anthony Joshua in December. Paul first broke his jaw in two places during that fight. Now, he says the metal screws and plates in his mouth started coming loose because he did not rest enough after the first operation. He shared the update himself on Instagram. In the photos, Paul is lying in a hospital bed while doctors prepare him for surgery. In another picture, his fiancée Jutta Leerdam is seen pushing him in a wheelchair through hospital halls.

Jake Paul wrote in his post, “Had to get another jaw surgery.

The screws and plates were coming loose because apparently I didn’t rest for the past 2 months. ” The setback comes at a time when the couple were meant to be enjoying a happy period. They recently spent time in Italy around the Milan Cortina Winter Games, where Dutch speed skating star Jutta Leerdam won gold and silver medals. The pair got engaged last year and are planning to marry this summer.

Jake Paul suffers second jaw surgery after Anthony Joshua knockout as Jutta Leerdam supports him during hospital recovery

The injury goes back to Paul’s fight with Anthony Joshua in Miami in December.

Joshua stopped him in the sixth round after knocking him down several times. After the bout, Paul said inside the ring, “I think my jaw is broken, by the way. It’s definitely broke. But that was a nice little a** whooping from one of the best to ever do it. I love this sport, but I’m going to come back and get a championship belt at some time. ”

Soon after that fight, Jake Paul posted X ray images showing a double break in his jaw.

He revealed that doctors placed two titanium plates on each side of his mouth and removed some teeth. He also shared, “Surgery went well thanks for all the love and support. 2 titanium plates on each side. Some teeth removed. Have to have only liquids for 7 days. ”

At first, doctors expected him to recover in four to six weeks. However, this new procedure shows that healing has not been smooth. In one recent image, Paul gives a thumbs up while heading into an MRI scan. In another, Leerdam smiles and dances lightly while pushing his wheelchair, trying to keep the mood positive.

Jake Paul is once again focused on recovery. After a painful defeat and months of treatment, he will now hope this second surgery finally fixes the problem for good.
