In a significant update for engineering aspirants, the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT, Roorkee has extended the registration deadline for JEE Advanced 2026. Eligible candidates can now complete their application process, including fee payment, until 11:59 pm on May 5, 2026 through the official website jeeadv.ac.in.
This extension comes as a relief for students who needed extra time, but the institute has clearly advised candidates not to wait until the last moment.
Registration will only be considered complete after the successful payment of the application fee.
KEY DATES AND EXAM SCHEDULE
The extended deadline gives candidates a narrow but crucial window to apply. While registrations close on May 5, the JEE Advanced 2026 exam will be conducted on May 17, 2026, leaving limited time for final preparation after completing the application process.
APPLICATION FEE DETAILS
Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable fee as part of the registration. The fee is Rs 3,200 for general category candidates, while female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates need to pay Rs 1,600.
To apply, candidates must visit the official website and log in using their JEE Main credentials. After accessing the registration portal, they need to fill in personal and academic details carefully, proceed with the online fee payment, and submit the form. Once completed, it is important to download and keep a printout of the confirmation page for future reference.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR JEE ADVANCED 2026
To appear for the exam, candidates must meet specific conditions set by the authorities. They should be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates in the BE/BTech paper of JEE Main 2026. In terms of age, candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2001, with a five-year relaxation for SC, ST, and PwD categories.
Additionally, a candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in two consecutive years. Only those who appeared for their Class 12 (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2025 or 2026 are eligible. Candidates who have already accepted admission in any IIT are not eligible to apply.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR REGISTRATION
Applicants need to upload valid documents during the registration process. This includes a Class 10 certificate or birth certificate as proof of date of birth. They must also submit their Class 12 certificate or marksheet if available, or proof of appearing in 2025 or 2026.
If there is any discrepancy in the candidate’s name compared to the Class 10 certificate, a gazette notification confirming the name change is required. Candidates belonging to reserved categories must also upload the relevant caste or category certificate.
The extended deadline for JEE Advanced 2026 registration is a valuable last chance for eligible students aiming for admission into India’s prestigious IITs. With only a few days left before the exam, candidates should complete their application immediately and shift their full focus to preparation.
