READING AND WRITING SECTIONS OFFER SCORING OPPORTUNITIES

The reading section included discursive and case-based passages built around contemporary themes. Questions required students to identify key ideas, interpret meaning, and respond with clarity.

While most questions were direct, a few required careful reading to draw conclusions and understand the writer’s intent.

The writing section included familiar formats such as letter writing and analytical paragraph. Clear instructions and structured prompts helped students organise their responses. Teachers said students who practised these formats during class assessments and pre-boards were able to attempt this section with confidence.

The grammar section focused on functional use of language, including editing, gap-filling, and reported speech. These questions tested application of rules in context and were manageable for most students.

LITERATURE SECTION TESTS INTERPRETATION OVER MEMORISATION

The literature section carried the highest weightage and focused on understanding themes, characters, and ideas from the prescribed texts. Questions included extract-based responses and long answers that required interpretation and explanation.

Experts noted that students who understood the texts thoroughly and could interpret figurative meaning had an advantage.

Some questions required comparison between chapters and deeper analysis, reflecting CBSE’s emphasis on critical thinking.

However, the questions remained within the syllabus and did not introduce unfamiliar content.

PAPER ALIGNED WITH CBSE PATTERN, FAIR FOR PREPARED STUDENTS

Overall, the question paper reflected CBSE’s shift towards evaluating comprehension, expression, and analytical ability. The distribution of marks was balanced, and students who prepared consistently were able to complete the paper within the allotted time.

Educators said the paper was fair, structured, and student-friendly, offering good scoring opportunities. With the question paper now available, further answer discussions and marking insights are expected to help students understand their performance.
