CBSE activates marks upload link for Class 12 West Asia schools

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened the marks upload window for Class 12 students in select West Asian countries, where board exams were cancelled due to ongoing geopolitical challenges.

As per an official notification issued on March 27, 2026, schools in these regions can upload student marks through a dedicated online portal from April 8 to April 17, 2026. The access link will be available via individual school logins, and institutions have been instructed to follow the detailed guidelines outlined in the board’s second notification.

CBSE has cautioned schools to exercise extreme care while entering marks, making it clear that no corrections or revisions will be allowed once the data is submitted. The board has stressed strict adherence to instructions to avoid discrepancies during result processing.

STRICT TIMELINES AND NO CORRECTION POLICY

Controller of Examinations, Sanyam Bhardwaj, highlighted that timely submission of marks is critical to ensure the smooth declaration of results. Schools have therefore been urged to complete the process within the stipulated timeline.

ALTERNATIVE ASSESSMENT SCHEME EXPLAINED

The alternative assessment policy was introduced after CBSE cancelled Class 12 examinations scheduled between March 16 and April 10, 2026, in countries such as Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, citing exceptional circumstances that made conducting exams unfeasible.

Under this system, students will be evaluated based on a mix of internal assessments and performance in exams conducted before February 28, wherever available. For subjects where exams could not take place, schools must submit marks from periodic evaluations, including quarterly tests, half-yearly exams, and pre-boards.

CBSE has reiterated that the entire evaluation process must be conducted in a fair, transparent, and unbiased manner, ensuring that students are not put at a disadvantage due to the disruption.
