A Chinese longevity startup claims that living to 150 years old is “definitely realistic” and could become reality within just a few years through its anti-aging pills. Lonvi Biosciences says it has developed capsules using grapeseed extract that target aging cells, potentially revolutionizing human longevity.

The Shenzhen-based company’s announcement comes shortly after world leaders Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin were overheard discussing the possibility of 150-year lifespans. While traditional approaches focused on organ transplants, Lonvi is pursuing a pharmaceutical solution to extend human life.

The Science Behind the Anti-Aging Pill

Lonvi’s technology centers on Procyanidin C1 (PCC1), a compound isolated from grape seed extract. Research published in Nature Metabolism demonstrated that PCC1 successfully extended both lifespan and health span in mice, providing the foundation for human clinical studies.

The pills target cellular senescence – the process where cells lose their biological function but don’t die, becoming what scientists call “zombie cells.” These aging cells can damage healthy neighboring cells and contribute to age-related diseases.

“Living to 150 is definitely realistic,” Lyu Qinghua, the chief technology officer of Lonvi, told NYT, adding, “in a few years, this will be the reality.”

How the Treatment Works

Lonvi claims to have developed a method to isolate molecules from grapeseed that specifically destroy senescent cells. The company produces capsules containing high concentrations of these active compounds, representing a class of drugs known as senolytics.

Senolytic drugs have shown potential in laboratory and animal models for eliminating aging cells and reducing age-related chronic conditions. This approach could significantly boost human lifespan by addressing cellular aging at its source.

“This is not just one more pill. This is the holy grail,” Yip Tszho aka Zico, Lonvi’s chief executive, told NYT.

Realistic Expectations and Expert Opinion

The startup suggests that when combined with healthy lifestyle choices and proper medical care, their pills could help people live between 100-120 years. However, experts caution that while promising, the technology requires further validation.

David Furman, an associate professor at Stanford University’s Buck Institute, told the NYT that the pills “seem promising” but emphasized that larger clinical trials are necessary to confirm their effectiveness and safety in humans.
