Bhumi Pednekar has come a long way in her Bollywood journey. From starting behind the scenes to becoming a successful actor, she has seen many ups and downs. Recently, she opened up about her weight loss journey, health priorities, and how people often make strange assumptions about her transformation.
From casting assistant to successful actor
Before becoming an actor, Bhumi worked as a casting assistant at Yash Raj Films. She made her acting debut with the film Dum Laga Ke Haisha in 2015. Since then, she has impressed audiences with different kinds of roles and strong performances.
Speaking at the International Film Festival Delhi 2026, Bhumi shared how her priorities have changed over time, especially when it comes to health and choosing roles.
Staying true to your craft matters more
Bhumi said that instead of trying to stay “relevant” all the time, it is more important to stay honest to your work. According to her, chasing relevance can be tiring and doesn’t last long.
She believes that understanding your talent and constantly improving your skills is what truly matters. For her, focusing on growth as an artist is more important than temporary fame.
Choosing health over roles
Bhumi has often gained or lost weight for her film roles. But now, she has decided to focus more on her health.
She explained that as people grow older, the body cannot handle frequent weight changes easily. That is why she now prefers to take care of her health instead of pushing her body for roles.
Facing struggles and wrong assumptions
Bhumi also talked about the challenges she faced during her weight loss journey. She shared that during one phase, she lost a lot of weight while recovering from dengue. She lost 12 kg and even half her hair, and it was a very painful experience.
She also addressed the strange assumptions people make. Some even asked her if she had a rib removed. Others questioned if she used medicines like Ozempic or Mounjaro for weight loss.
Bhumi made it clear that she does not judge anyone who takes medical help, but in her case, her transformation came from years of hard work, exercise, and a healthy diet. She revealed that she lost over 40 kg without using injections.
Recent work and projects
On the work front, Bhumi was last seen in the film Mere Husband Ki Biwi with Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh.
She also appeared in the romantic drama The Royals alongside Ishaan Khatter, which received positive reviews.
Bhumi Pednekar’s journey shows that real transformation takes time, effort, and patience. While people may make assumptions, she continues to focus on her health and her craft. Her story is a reminder that staying true to yourself is more important than chasing quick results or outside validation.
