YRF postpones Alia Bhatt’s Alpha for the second time, confirms theatrical release

Yash Raj Films’ Alpha, the next instalment in its spy universe, has been postponed once again. The film, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, was initially slated to release in December 2025 before being pushed to April 2026. Now, according to a fresh announcement from the production house, the action film will arrive in theatres on July 10, 2026.

While rumours of a direct OTT release had been circulating on social media, YRF put the speculation to rest by confirming in the official poster that the film will premiere in cinemas.

Yash Raj Films shared a new poster of Alpha on Monday, announcing the updated release date. The caption on the Instagram post read, “#ALPHA 10.07.2026.”

The poster offers a partial glimpse of Alia Bhatt’s character, showing her with a cut above her eye as she stares intensely into the camera. The poster also features the names of Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol.

All about Alpha

Alpha marks the first female-led film in Yash Raj Films’ spy universe. The film’s release had earlier been pushed from Christmas 2025 to allow additional time for visual effects work.

Speaking about the project at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah last year, Alia Bhatt underlined the importance of Alpha within the franchise. “Alpha is the first female-led action film from the YRF universe, so that’s also a risk, because you’ve not historically seen that perform in the same way that the other male-led films have performed,” she said, as quoted by Deadline.

Bobby Deol will play the film’s primary antagonist. Early indications suggest that his character may initially appear as a mentor to Bhatt’s character before eventually turning into her adversary.

It also remains unclear whether other prominent characters from the spy universe, including Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan (Pathaan), Salman Khan’s Tiger (Ek Tha Tiger), or Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir (War), will make appearances in Alpha.

Alpha is directed by Shiv Rawail.
