Vishal Bhardwaj is proud of O’Romeo, calls it the most successful film of his life

Mixed reviews and box office debates haven’t shaken Vishal Bhardwaj’s belief in his latest release O’Romeo. The director has firmly stood by his romantic crime drama, expressing confidence that the film will eventually emerge as the most successful project of his career.

Starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, O’Romeo hit cinemas on February 13, just ahead of Valentine’s Day. The film has sparked discussion for its bold mix of romance and violence, even as critics remain divided and its worldwide box office collections are yet to cross the Rs 100 crore mark.

Speaking to PTI, Bhardwaj dismissed the criticism and reiterated his faith in the film. “This is going to be one of my most successful films,” he said. “I say this knowing it may break the hearts of critics who panned it. No matter what they felt, this will be the most successful film of my life. I am extremely proud of it. I am not ashamed of it at all. I am proud of the violence and love story I’ve created.”

O’Romeo follows the story of Ustara, a feared gangster played by Shahid Kapoor, who becomes entangled with Afsha Qureshi, also known as Rani Sharma, portrayed by Triptii Dimri. The film draws inspiration from journalist Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai.

The film also features an ensemble cast including Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal and Vikrant Massey, adding star value and wider appeal.
