Actor Shahid Kapoor has officially begun filming for the second season of the crime thriller series Farzi. The actor confirmed the development on social media by sharing a behind-the-scenes photograph with the show’s creators Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, popularly known as Raj & DK.
Kapoor posted the image with the caption, “Farzi 2 day 1 back at it!!!”, signalling the start of production on the much-anticipated sequel. The update quickly generated attention online, as fans have been waiting for news about the next chapter since the first season premiered in 2023.

Kapoor’s post featured him alongside Raj & DK on set, marking the first day of filming for the new season. The creators also hinted at the project’s progress on social media by sharing an image of currency notes with the caption, “Round 2 in progress.”

What was the story of the first season?
The first season of Farzi, which premiered in February 2023 on Amazon Prime Video, followed the story of Sunny, a small-time artist played by Kapoor who becomes involved in a high-stakes counterfeit currency operation.
The eight-episode series combined crime, drama and dark humour, drawing attention for its storyline and performances. It also marked Kapoor’s debut in the streaming space.
The show featured an ensemble cast including Vijay Sethupathi, Raashii Khanna, Kay Kay Menon, Bhuvan Arora, Regina Cassandra and Amol Palekar in key roles.
What other projects is Shahid Kapoor working on?
Apart from Farzi 2, Kapoor is also set to appear in Cocktail 2, a sequel to the 2012 film Cocktail. The upcoming project will also feature Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna.
The film is being directed by Homi Adajania and produced by Dinesh Vijan under his banner Maddock Films.
While filming for Farzi 2 has now started, the makers have not yet announced an official release date for the new season.
